Abstract

The article studies translation processing as well as the influence of a translator’s personality traits regarded as implicit knowledge, which in the process of translation makes a translator interpret and translate linguistic signs in a certain way. Such knowledge is thought to be structured as cognitive patterns (implicit “prompts”) formed on the basis of the prior multimodal experience of individual’s cognitive activities and communication and used to minimize cognitive efforts. The study of the translation processing allows to specify the three models of original text interpretation: categorical knowledge specification, new characteristics assignment, a shift to another notion
