Manuscript requirements

Ethnopsycholinguistics publishes papers and systematic (analytical) reviews which stand up to the international standards of scholarly publications and are drafted in line with the stylesheet adopted.

Only unpublished (and not submitted to other journals / magazines / monographs / collections of papers / conference proceedings) papers and systematic (analytical) reviews are considered.

Manuscripts should be uploaded to the submission system or sent in digital format as a *.doc or *.docx file to the e-mail of the journal: eplingua@yandex.ru.

The text should contain no misprints or grammar / style / lexical / spelling flaws or imperfections, otherwise the paper will not be considered.

Any manuscript undergoes double blind peer-review process. The author is informed by e-mail about the outcome of the review process.

Any manuscript submitted is checked through the Antiplagiarism software for instances of plagiarism.

The editorial board reserves a right to amend manuscripts content-wise and style-wise.

The editor-in-chief decides whether the manuscript conforms to the focus of the journal and the issues covered.

The editorial board decides on the order of publication of the manuscripts which have received positive appraisal of the reviewers.

Papers and systematic (analytical) reviews are published without any fees charged.

The manuscripts (with abstracts and key words) should be under 40000 printed symbols including spaces. It includes the title, the authour's affiliation, the abstract, the key words in Russian and in English and references (in Cyrillic and Latin).

Peer Review Process

All papers and systematic (analytical) reviews which have been submitted for publication in the journal and are in line with the scope of the journal and formatted accordingly are subject to double blind peer-review.

A double-blind peer review method implies that neither the reviewer is aware of the authorship of the manuscript, nor the author maintains any contact with the reviewer.

Depending on its focus, the manuscript is sent to a member of the editorial board or leading global experts in corresponding areas of sciences, invited as independent readers, perform peer reviews.

Editor-in-chief, deputy editor-in-chief or current issue editor choose readers for peer review.

A reviewer cannot be employed with the research institute or educational organisation where the research was conducted.

Reviewers are informed that the manuscripts sent in for reviewing are subject to copyright claims by the author and nondisclosure.

Reviewers are not to make copies of the reviewed papers for their individual needs.

Manuscripts are received by reviewers as an electronic document or its carbon copy without any mentioning or the author’s (authors’) name(s).

Reviewer has an option to abnegate the assessment should any conflict of interests arise that may affect perception or interpretation of the manuscript.

The reviewer drafts a review of the manuscript which outlines the strengths and weaknesses of the paper, argues whether the manuscript can be published in the journal and whether it can be amended to stand up to the standards of the journal.

The reviewer abides by the criteria to follow:

– whether the manuscript is in line with the scope of the journal;

– whether the content of the paper is in line with its name;

– whether the topic is relevant and novel;

– whether the paper relates to the recent developments in the ethnopsycholinguistics;

– whether the topic is thoroughly considered and the findings are well-grounded;

– whether the paper is drafted in a proper academic format.

Upon the scrutiny, the reviewer is expected to present the editorial board with one of the following recommendations:

– to accept the manuscript in its present state (the manuscript can be published without further changes);

– to invite the author to revise their manuscript to address specific concerns before final decision is reached (the manuscript needs to be revised);

– to rejected the manuscript.

We aim to limit the review process to 2-4 mounths, though in some cases the schedule may be adjusted at the reviewer’s request.

The editorial board informs the author about the decision by e-mail.

If the reviewer has recommended any refinements, the editorial staff would suggest the author either to implement the corrections, or to dispute them reasonably.

Authors are kindly required to limit their revision to 1-2 months and resubmit the adapted manuscript within this period for final evaluation.

The rejected papers cannot be submitted for publication in the journal again.

We politely request that the editor be notified verbally or in writing should the author decide to refuse from publishing the manuscript.

In case the author fails to do so within 3 months since receiving a copy of the initial review, the editorial board takes the manuscript off the register and notifies the author accordingly.

The editors conduct no more than three rounds of peer review for each manuscript. If, after the three-fold revision of the manuscript, the majority of the reviewers or the editorial board have significant comments on the text, the manuscript is rejected and removed from consideration. In this case, the authors are sent a corresponding notification about the rejection of the manuscript.

If author and reviewers meet insoluble contradictions regarding revision of the manuscript, the editor-in-chief resolves the conflict by his own authority.

The editorial board reaches final decision to reject a manuscript on the hearing according to reviewers’ recommendations, and duly notifies the authors of their decision via e-mail. The board does not accept previously rejected manuscripts for re-evaluation.

Upon the decision to accept the manuscript for publishing, the editorial staff notifies the authors of the scheduled date of publication.

Kindly note that positive review does not guarantee the acceptance, as final decision in all cases lies with the editorial board.

By his authority, editor-in-chief rules final solution of every conflict.

Original reviews of submitted manuscripts remain deposited permanently (not less than 5 years). Copies can be submitted to the Ministry Science and Hiher Education of the Russian Federation upon receipt of a written claim.

The editorial board doesn’t keep manuscripts which have been rejected. The rejected manuscripts are not returned to the author(s).

Manuscript reviews are not published. Reviews can be sent to the Ministry of Education and Sciense of Russian Federation in case of query.

To Appeal

The authors have the right to argue the decision of the editorial board to reject the manuscript and to remove it from consideration.

To do this, they should send an appeal to the editorial board, addressed to the editor-in-chief.

The appeal should include detailed reasons for the authors' disagreement with the decision of the editorial board (based on the conclusions of the reviewers), give reasons in favor of revising the decision, and send the revised manuscript (if such revision is appropriate).

Disputes and requests from authors to revise the decisions of the editorial board are considered personally by the editor-in-chief at the meeting of the editorial board.

The decisions made by the editor-in-chief are not subject to challenge.
