The article deals with the issues related to re-creating the national picture of the world reproduced in a literature work when translating. The focus is on the transmission of the national discourse. The paper considers the translator acts as an intermediary between the author and the reader, both speaking different languages and born onto different cultures. A relevant state of translation process relates to pre-translation analysis of the text, which allows us to consider the translated text as an integral system. Reasonable use of domestication and foreignization strategies by the translator helps to consider translation as a tool of cognition of «another».
