The authors reflect on the features of the figurative saying “The End Justifies the Means”, compare German anti-proverbs with students’ neoparemias obtained in the context of a psycholinguistic experiment in Russian and German. Such key association strategies as the inclusion of the initial proverb in a new situation, the reactions associated with the disclosure of the associative potential of individual components of the initial stimulus have been identified.
