The paper concerns the study of the translationese phenomenon based on the comparable corpus of Russian scientific papers and machine-translation results due to such translationese features as simplification, normalization, interference and explicitation. The quantitative analysis of these features is presented. The effect of simplification, interference and explicitation is established, confirming the difference between the Russian and machine-translated papers. Post-editing strategies aimed at eliminating indicators of these features are proposed. Implementing these strategies might improve the quality of machine translation of scientific papers by reducing the impact of translationese.
