Central to present-day public and academic discourse is the problem whether the so called gender-correct communication rules are acceptable in the German speaking society and yet, whether the German grammar and orthography remain integral. The problem is viewed as the manifestation of linguacultural contradictions, shaped under the influence of one of philosophical trends of globalization – the theory of social constructivism. The main issues of gender-correct communication concerns sociocultural relevance of the category of gender in the modern German language, as well as the universal masculine gender and its perception by German speakers. According to the gender ideology the nouns of the universal masculine gender indicate exclusively persons of the masculine gender and do not relate to the persons of the feminine gender. Social gender is viewed as most relevant. Psycholinguistic research has been carried out to validate these ideas with some findings published in journals.
