The paper looks at the impact of the media industry on the transformation of socio-cultural values of teenagers and youngsters in present-day German-speaking society. The information-centered and cultural society is swept by, a colossal flow of information, which contributes to a change in value orientations, attitudes and behavioral norms among the younger generation. The paper emphasizes that as of today, mass media are among the most important channels for gender-role socialization of young people. As a result, media content replicated by the modern German-language media contributes to modernization of the traditional values of the family and parenthood. The ongoing social media projects supported by the authorities, with the involvement of the media, are aimed at popularizing the basic value of «family» among the young. The paper features statistics to verify the findings and linguistic analysis of authentic language material.
