The paper looks at frequent syntactic models of search queries containing modal predicates of possibility, necessity and obligation. An attempt was made to identify the main linguistic features of this method of implementing the communicative and cognitive needs of the mass Russian-speaking Internet audience. The dominance of «mozhno li…», «nuzhno li…» models meant to verify the user’s knowledge in a post-event situation (possibility and necessity), as well as the actual requests for obtaining knowledge about the standard (obligation), which can be represented in the form of a model «kakim dolzhen byt…» are detected.
