The paper discusses special features of the readers’ projection of texts and contextual variability of word functioning within texts and literary codes. Translation is considered as a written projection of the text that translators pass on to their readers with a different cultural background. It manifests cross-cultural asymmetry caused by differences in languages and cultures. For successful text communication it is vital to rely on experience and available information about the text content. Internal context is a factor that helps to get to the text’s meanings. Translators’ gender also influences meaning-making.
