The article deals with units of the temporal thesaurus in the Spanish and Russian languages, which reflect the human desire to regulate time and take it under control in different historical periods. A brief overview of the evolution of time measurement in the two cultures allows to conclude that there is a significant similarity both in the processes occurring in them and in their actualization in the studied languages.
