The paper examines specifics of the content of ethnic stereotypes presented in Spanish phraseology. Autostereotypes, as generally accepted representations of people about their own ethnos, traditionally feature positive assessment, while heterostereotypes, opinions about other ethnic communities, as a rule, have negative one. Nevertheless, a heterostereotype can also become positive if the peoples living in the same territory are historically linked by deep cultural roots and economic relations.
