Picture of the world Dolgan Anabar ulus: reflection in the dialects and toponymy

Abstract

Through systematization of geographical terminology, dialects and toponymy of the Anabar region in Yakutia by means of a comprehensive approach we identified Dolgan traditional picture of the world. The materials for the study included dialect dictionaries of two local groups of this region, topographic maps, as well as dictionaries of the Dolgan, Yakut and Evenk languages. Based on the analysis of the material collected, six groups of toponyms and dialect words were identified, including Dolgan's understanding of the environment.
