The paper considers an interdisciplinary approach to the problem of understanding in modern communication systems. The purpose of the study is to identify the essence and general patterns of the phenomenon of “understanding” in the “human – human” field and their subsequent extrapolation to the “human – artificial intelligence system” sphere. Particular attention is paid to the art’s potential and text understanding from the standpoint of philosophical hermeneutics. A five-level model of text understanding based on the concept scope increase is proposed.
