The paper considers a particular aspect of linguistic categorization of emotions – verbalization of “non-standard” emotional experiences. The research subject is microemotions, which are embedded in diminutive forms of full nominations of emotional experiences. By adding diminutive suffixes to the “names” of emotions we affect the functional and semantic component of the “emotions of this instance”. The use of such diminutive forms is analyzed in a socio-cultural context, with a particular focus on the “mimic” language that has gone beyond child-centered communication. It is noted that for effective use of these emotions we have to employ additional means of “reviving” their form. The key characteristic of microemotions is their insufficiency for the realization of a communicative goal in the form of explication of emotions.
