The paper looks into the category of persuasion associated with the mentality of the participants to political communication. It describes persuasive tactics and linguistic means through the analysis of a speech by Santiago Abascal, one of the most prominent political leaders of present-day Spain. His speeches demonstrate that the speaker and the audience represent one culture, united by one outlook. A political leader can be a successful communicator only by keeping this in mind.
