Realization of archetypes in the narrative of a soap opera (case study of “Wild Heart” TV series, 2009)

Abstract

The paper relies on the model by A.-J. Greimas to study the narrative of a soap opera and analyzes how the images of the collective unconscious are realized in it. The author discovers that the archetypes are features In regural ibtervals in the nar-rative, and they are realized in specific actors in the actant scheme, and one actor can be act as a projection of more than one archetype. Archetypes in the narrative of a soap opera facilitate comprehension of what is happening and have a sugges-tive influence on the audience.
