The study of associative field stability reveals the stability of mental structures in the consciousness of a particular ethnic group. The purpose of the study is to define the concept of ‟stability of the associative field” and its relevance for the analysis of dynamic processes occurring in the mental lexicon of an individual. The main method is a free associative experiment conducted by the author in 2024 among the Chinese youth, as well as the results of associative experiments with stimulus words that make up the category of ‟politeness” in different linguistic cultures. The material for the analysis includes the models of the associative fields of stimulus words in Russian and Chinese linguistic cultures. The assessment of stability requires the use of quantitative and qualitative indicators, including the number of associative reactions and their share in the core of the associative field, the coefficient of the core association frequency, the correlation of the types of associative reactions in the core field, percentage of associations, and some other indicators. The comparative analysis of the data shows the dynamic processes taking place in the consciousness of the speakers of a particular linguaculture and reveals the general trends in the development of national consciousness.
