The study of national consciousness is associated with the system of values, among which the value of «health» is universal. Based on the analysis of Russian and Chinese scientific literature and various dictionaries, the national specificity of this value is determined. The findings of a free associative experiment help to determine the place of this value in the consciousness of the Chinese, its relation to other values (平安 / well-being, 幸福 / happiness, 和谐 / harmony and 长寿 / longevity) and current social changes caused by the coronavirus pandemic and control over the epidemics in the country. It was found out that at present the Chinese are worried about their physical and mental health, they are less concerned about the health of their parents and other family members; they play sports and train as well as monitor nutrition, daily routine, are aware of the social guarantees of medical care and the disease control system.
