The author analyses theoretical approaches to impersonality as a syntactic category, as well as means of its representation in the Russian and English languages and pro-poses a new approach, which is based on the frequency of different means of ren-dering impersonality in Russian-to-English translation. The study aims to establish quantitative indicators in the use of certain means of rendering impersonality in translation. The author uses the comparative and descriptive methods. According to our preliminary conclusions, Russian reflexive verbs are often translated with the verbs in the passive voice.
