Abstract

The paper presents the analysis of the results of a 2024 survey with the speakers of the Neapolitan dialect. The initial part of the study focused on the social contexts, in which the Neapolitan dialect is commonly used. The second part was aimed at de-termining how the speakers of this dialect felt about it. The research findings have revealed that at present the Neapolitan dialect has overcome traditional associations with marginality and poverty and turned into a symbol of identity and struggle for the preservation of the cultural identity of the region.
