The paper looks at various examples of English-language film text to uncover the intentional specifics of self-representation when presenting oneself in etiquette communication when getting acquainted. When comparing original English language texts and their Russian translations, we see a disparity between the culturally determined information and certain situations of self-representations. The use of a person’s name in English speech attiquette to signal a special anthroponymic function is closely related to the regulative function that actualizes the communicative concept of trust. When translating, it is essential to consider that an English proper noun can both embody the concept of trust within a specific communicative situation and act as a text-forming element in the development of the characterʼs image in the entire movie.
