The paper focuses on the problem of determining the social significance of “trust” as a value. Based on the cultural and axiological approaches to trust and the theory of speech activity, the author substantiates the position that speech activity, being a “cultural variable”, performs a social regulatory function. Consequently, the specifics of culture can be established on the basis of an analysis of the components of speech activity – actions and operations. For this purpose, the identification of the essential social properties of speech action and the principles of modeling the meaning of values as a manifestation of axiological attitudes to reality are substantiated.
