The paper deals with the problem of functional illiteracy considered as a specific type of personal behavior, which manifests itself in the interaction of the subject with the surrounding reality and is determined by a certain type of cognitive structures. The analysis of the papers aimed at identifying the role of environmental impacts in the formation of the brain makes it possible to prove that the main factor determining both the type of thinking and habitual behavioral patterns and, accordingly, causing current personality regression is the environment. It is concluded that the modern environment, including the educational one, is controlled from the outside. The “production” of functionally illiterate people is effected with the help of digitalization and is aimed at changing the very structure of personality in order to replace the Homo sapiens individual with a new type – Homo loquax: Button-bodies.
