Abstract

The paper explores original typology of aggression embedded in verbal modality in written text / discourse. It is critical to consider aggression as a complex phenomenon that explicates in language and speech aggressive emotional-modal states, a hostile image of the world, aggressiveness as an personal characteristic and speech aggression as a specific type of aggression. The person playing the role of an aggressor / victim / third party is considered to be the pivot this typology. The typology is based upon the principle of acting through individual (subjective) perception of reality (as opposed to the principle of reality-based action): the recipient of the text / discourse produces an individual reaction to physical / verbal / mental actions in the real world based on the image generalized in the text / discourse. The elements of the semantic field «aggression» united in this text / discourse in the functional structure of the communicative act of aggression reproduce stereotypical understanding of what aggressor / victim / third party are – this understanding is subsequently attributed to real subjects in real life. The mechanism and possible repertoire of interactions between «aggressor – victim – third party» triad is prescribed in the text / discourse and, as a rule, is characterized as destructive interaction.
